BLACK SHEEP "Strobelite Honey" (Poster Print)

Dres and Mista Lawnge aka Black Sheep, part of the Native Tongues Collective alongside Tribe, De La, JB’s, Latifah, and Monie Love, made arguably one of the best, yet underrated debut albums of all time. Underrated because the main single “The Choice Is Yours” dominated dance floors for years (still does) and overshadowed the complex lyricism on tracks like “Black With No N V”, and our favourite tongue and cheek single “Strobelite Honey” (which this poster is based on and the only track I can rap all the lyrics to). Dres’ wordplay is also far denser than any other member of the Native Tongues and is often left out of the top MC’s discussions. Black Sheep intentionally positioned themselves as the smart ass members with inside jokes, heavy double entendres, and left of centre lyrics while the others of the crew often pushed afrocentricity and arguably silly, positive lyrics.
