BRAINSTORM "Journey To The Light" (Poster Print)

This poster is our version of “Journey To The Light”, the second album by the Detroit, Michigan group Brainstorm, well-known in South East Michigan as a very hot club act in the mid to late 1970’s. While Brainstorm are known for their disco hits like “Lovin’ Is Really My Game” and “Hot For You”, they are often overlooked for this album. A commercial disappointment upon release, it remains one of our favourite jazz-funk, hybrid soul, disco albums of all time. Lead by singer Belita Woods, the album lacks any recognizable disco numbers. The major standout songs however include “We’re On Our Way Home Parts 1&2”, Steve Wonder penned “Every time I see You I Go Wild” and the title song “Journey To The Light”, a loft classic and sampled many years later on Broken Beat Banger “The Way” by Nepa Allstar. Far richer and more sophisticated than their other albums, “Journey” cannot really be pigeon holed into any category. The album sounds better and better with each listen and can be appreciated as whole rather than just a few select singles.
