EDDY GRANT "Walking On Sunshine" (Poster Print)

Guyanese-English singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Eddy Grant, known for his his chart toppers “Electric Avenue”, “I Don’t Wanna Dance” and “Give Me Hope Jo’anna” got his start as one of the founding members of The Equals, of of the UK’s first racially integrated groups, and as a songwriter for other artists including The Pyramids and Prince Buster. However, underground disco/house heads might know the singles “Walking On Sunshine”, “Living On The Frontline” and “California Style”, the latter, sampled many times over across numerous house tracks. Eddy formed ICE Records in 1974 and opened the first black-owned recording studio and pressing plant in all of Europe. His label fostered prominent Soca artists and introduced the world to the genre of “ringbang”, a distinct Caribbean musical concept Eddy developed himself. Little is known that Eddy has played every single instrument, sang every vocal, and produced every track on all his solo albums to date. In a similar vein to Compass Point Studios, his Blue Wave commercial recording studio in Barbados has included clients like Mick Jagger, Happy Mondays, and a little known artist named Rihanna.
