A tribute to Grace Jones’ first foray away from her disco persona and to the legendary Compass Point Studios. This post-disco single, a mix of reggae, rock, and new wave is a cover written by Chrissie Hynde, leader and singer of the Pretenders and was in fact the third single from the “Warm Leatherette” album. For the uninitiated, Compass Point Studios situated in the Bahamas and fronted by its in house band The Compass Point Allstars were made up of legendary reggae players Sly Dunbar and Robbie Shakespeare on bass and drum, synths by Wally Badarou, guitarists Mikey Chung and Barry Reynolds, percussionist Uziah “ Sticky” Thompson, and producer Alex Sudkin. For a wonderful overview of the studio, the players and the three quintessential albums that defined Grace Jones forever, read here .
